St. Clare of Assisi was a close follower of St. Francis and the founder of the Poor Clares, a monastic order committed to living in poverty and prayer. She is known for her deep devotion to the Eucharist and her unwavering faith. One of her most famous miracles occurred when Assisi was under attack by invading soldiers. St. Clare, too ill to leave her bed, took a monstrance containing the Blessed Sacrament and held it up before the attackers. Upon seeing the Eucharist, the soldiers fled in fear, and Assisi was saved. Her faith and love for Christ's presence in the Eucharist are remembered as a testament to the power of prayer and the protection of God.
